Ms. Christine CroteauMs. Christine Croteau was appointed to serve as the Acting Hospital Director for Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital effective June 6, 2011.
Daniel S. Zomchek, PhD, FACHEDr. Daniel S. Zomchek was appointed Associate Director of the Bedford VA Medical Center in December 2010. Prior to this appointment, he served as a Health Systems Specialist for the VA Healthcare System of Ohio (VISN 10) effective June 2008, where he managed various programs and initiatives across the Network of five medical centers. While in this position, he also served as Acting Associate Director of the Iron Mountain VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, MI (11/09-1/10) and as Acting Sub-Initiative Lead for one of the Secretary’s Major Transformation Initiatives (4/10-9/10). Dr. Zomchek’s previous VA experience includes several positions of increasing responsibility at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, IL including Staff Psychologist, Assistant Chief of Outpatient Mental Health, and Systems Redesign Coordinator for the facility.
Gregory Binus, MDFollowing graduation from Brandeis University with a major in philosophy, Dr. Binus served two years in the United Stated Peace Corps in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He then pursued a career in medicine, graduating from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed a medical internship and three years of psychiatry residency training at Boston University School of Medicine Division of Psychiatry. He has worked in psychiatry in the public sector in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and has maintained a small private practice of psychiatry since 1975, however most of his career has been devoted to serving Veterans at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital. He has been in a leadership position at Bedford since 1980 in various capacities including Chief of Psychiatry, Mental Health Service Line Manager and Chief of Staff. He supervises the medical education program, teaches medical students and residents, and provides direct clinical care to Veterans. Dr. Binus is Board Certified in General Psychiatry and has Added Qualifications in Geriatric Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has been an examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a member of the Dean’s Committee at Bedford and is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Binus engineered the transition of Bedford’s hospital focused clinical programs to a Veteran focused community oriented spectrum of care. He was successful in establishing at Bedford one of the first three Mental Illness Research and Education Clinical Centers in the country in concert with the West Haven and Northampton VAMCs. Under his leadership Bedford has received numerous national awards including four of the Under Secretary’s National Innovation Awards, the Under Secretary’s National Diversity Award, designation of the Mental Health Intensive Case Management Program as a Program of Excellence, and an ongoing Graduate Medical Education Innovation Award for an Administrative Leadership Elective Program for psychiatry residents. He has been the recipient of the National Distinguished Service Award from the Disabled American Veterans, the Exemplary Psychiatrist Award from the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, and is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Binus serves on committees at local, VISN and national levels. He has represented VISN 1 Chiefs of Staff as a member of the Executive Council of the National Association of VA Physician Executives.
Mary Ann Petrillo, MSN, RNMary Ann Petrillo, MSN, RN has been employed at the VA for 18 years. She has extensive experience in medical and psychiatric nursing and has held progressively responsible positions at the VA, the most recent of which has been as Associate Chief Nurse for Long Term Care and Mental Health inpatient programs for the last 8 years. She received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Salem State College and has attended many VA management training programs. She has had impact on nursing and nursing management issues at the local, State and National levels having served on a variety of committees. |
