The President of the National Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans, Arlene Lodgen, accompanied by Personnel Chairman, Arlene Kaplan, and VAVS representatives George and Dorothy Katz, visited Bedford VA to salute the women Veteran patients and take part in a facility tour.  The tour included a review of Bedford VAMC Women’s Clinic and demonstration of Telehealth services available to Veterans.

The tour of the Women’s Clinic boasted a private waiting room and seating area as well as exam rooms specifically designed for female patients. Services at the clinic include primary care (including gender-specific primary care such as cervical cancer and breast cancer screens), mental health (including post-deployment adjustment or post-traumatic stress disorder and military sexual trauma support) and specialty care (including the management and screening of chronic conditions, reproductive health care, rehabilitation and long-term care.)   The group also reviewed the Primary Care area and the My HealtheVet program.

After the tour, the group participated in a live-demonstration of the Telehealth Services available to Veterans.  Those services include:  Home Telehealth, Tele Derm, Tele Mental Health, Tele EKG, Tele Move (group), Tele Nutrition, Tele Smoking Cessation and Tele Occupational Therapy.  Learn more about VA Telehealth here: http://www.telehealth.va.gov/.  Other information on local Telehealth services can be obtained through the Telehealth Team at Bedford by calling:  781-687-2656.

“VA strives to be a national leader in the provision of health care for women, thereby raising the standard of care for all women,” said Christine Croteau, Bedford VAMC’s Acting Director.  “Telehealth services are an opportunity to deliver services directly to those who served”.  Women Veterans interested in learning more about our clinic and the services should contact the Women Program Manager, Denise Koutrouba at Denise.Koutrouba@va.gov or call 781-687-3021.

On behalf of Bedford Veterans and staff, Acting Director Croteau recognized the National Ladies Auxiliary for the JWV and volunteers for their outstanding work in support of Veterans.
